Female U.S. Marines In Combat

I just learned that the U.S. Marines have fielded their first battalion of women warriors to serve in Afganistan. Click this post's title to jump to the photo-story about the fighting ladies of the First Regiment, Eighth Battalion, Second Combat Team. Their jobs range from combat patrols, engaging suicide bombers, and working with translators. They also have a female Navy Corpsmen with them. Check out slide six to see if you can spot which of the three women is the "Devil Doc" (slang for Navy Corpsman with the Fleet Marines).

As a former "Devil Doc" with the "Devil Dogs" (slang for Marines in combat) in Vietnam, I salute these brave women who serve our country. The Marines would never field women in combat if they weren't confident these gals could do their jobs. Just more proof that women can and do fight just like the guys.

Gladiatrix Fight Video

Here's another video from an English historical reenactment club that did a gladiatrix fight. It's a duel between two women, one with a sword and shield and the other with a staff only. It's an exciting, but bloodless fight, but nonetheless displays skillful technique. You may click on this post's title to jump to the You Tube link and I've placed it in my Video Library.

Greek Woman Warrior

I uploaded a new art into the art gallery here. It's called "Aegia" by TalonGE. It's a stunning portrait of a Greek woman armed for battle. It's hard to find Grecian women warriors that don't look like Amazons so hope you like it. The background depicting a Greek temple is intriguing.

Stick Fighters Video

This video is one of the most accurate and exciting portrayals of two women, trained in martial arts, using the fighting stick in combat. While it's not bloody or fatal, it's quite enjoyable and you'll learn a few things about the advantage of using a fighting stick to defend yourself.

You may click this post's title to jump to the video on You Tube. The video was produced by KungFuFems3.com. The video has the link to their blog. I also placed this clip in my "Video Library" under "Stick Fighters".

Red Sonja Delivering Justice

Misogynists may believe that women are only suitable for breeding and slaving over men ... until they encounter Red Sonja. When men are cruel to women, she's the pointy end of the sword when dealing these thugs justice. I've honored this heroic fictional heroine by displaying an incredible cover art of her at the top of the blog.

I used to teach a self-defense course for women and my motto was "Never Be A Victim". Ladies: be all that you can and if anybody messes with you, kick their butts!

"Amazon Siege!

Here's another exciting render by Tom Watson (Lotus253). Please click this post's title to jump to the link and be sure to view it in zoom as it's quite a large pic. This time, Tom features a castle wall, defended by priestesses, being assautled by barbaric Amazons. Fantastic battlescenes, not to gory or having gratuitous nudity, but conveying a sense of bravery and heroism in battle. I have placed this pic right under his other one (see my last post). He's interested in drawing more mass battles so I hope to get more from him.

Asian Women Warriors music video

From the Russian steppes, to China and Japan, Asian women have taken up the sword to fight injustice. Please view these female warriors of the Orient on my You Tube video. Music: "Sakura", the Cherry Blossom Song, played on a samisen (Japanese guitar). Click this post's title to jump to my You Tube video. I have also uploaded this video to my "Videos Library" here. Hope that you enjoy it!

"Amazon Mass Battle" artwork

I just uploaded a brand-new and rare "Amazon Mass Battle" render by artist Tom Watson. This work depicts a battle between two groups of Amazons, one a priestess order and the other a warrior caste. The artist drew 20 panels to create it, but you should click this post's title to enjoy it in full screen or you will miss some details.

Tom is know as Lotus253 on Renderosity. He's gifted in drawing Amazon warriors, as well as other fantasy figures, so check out his other works there. To learn more about Tom, please click http://www.renderosity.com/homepage.php?userid=459603. He does have prints for sale so let's all try to support this talented young artist. If you want to purchase this print, here's the link to his print shop: http://www.zazzle.com/amazon_battle_scene_poster-228951413312316317

Tom has given me permission to display his "Amazon Mass Battles" and it's located just under my "Women Warriors Photo-Stories" section so just use the "Table Of Contents" on the blog to click right to it.

I hope that you enjoy it as much as I have.

Gladiatrix documentary video

If you didn't watch the documentary about ancient Roman gladiatrices that Lucy Lawless narrated on The History Channel, then please click this post's title to see some of the video. It also has some cool music. The video was produced as a student's project, is a bit jerky, but still enjoyable and you'll learn something about these fierce women warriors. I have also posted the link in my video library. It's called "Gladiatrix Documentary".

"Neighorhood Watch" picture

I've uploaded a new picture, "Neighborhood Watch", by Chris Achilleos. The pic is located just above the "Video Library" so you can use the "Table of Contents" to jump right there. I'm dedicating this picture to all those stalwart people who participate in the crime-fighting organizations called "Neighborhood Watch". I happen to be the coordinator of my subdivision's Neighborhood Watch and our motto is "Never Be A Victim".

For more info or starting a Neighborhood Watch group, see http://www.usaonwatch.org or contact the Community Affairs Dept. of your local police department.

"Wolfy's Howl" Blog News

I recently switched from cable Net to DSL Net so I lost my access to my previous ISP's FTP server. Therefore, as my photo-stories and short-story libraries were hosted on the FTP server, I had to delete both libraries. I hope that most of you had a chance to read these stories. Sadly, I haven't found a way to put them back on the blog.

*** BIG PROBLEM:

One of my biggest problems with art collecting is authors not signing their work. While I sometimes use unsigned art, I also would like to give the artist credit. So, if anybody thinks they know the artist of any unknown picture here, please leave me a comment on any of my posts. Thanks.

Thanks to everybody for making the blog a success.

Gladiatrix

Gladiatrix
Artist: White Coma

A Gladiatrix Speaks Out:

"[Men tell women it's not ladylike to wield a sword.] Well, ever the man in men! Let a woman know her place: let her milk and spin and sew and bake and bear children, not look upon her threshold or the command of her lord and master! Bah! I spit on you all!

There is no man alive who can face me with weapons and live, and before I die, I'll prove it to the world. Women! Cows! Slaves! Whimpering, cringing serfs, crouching to blows ...

Ha! You deny me a place among men? By God, I'll live as I please and die as God wills, but if I'm not fit to be a man's comrade, at least I'll be no man's mistress."

From: The Encylopedia Of Amazons, by Jessica Amanda Salmanson, p. 4.
