I decided to add two more artworks to freshen up the art gallery. The first, "Close Quarters", by famed drawer of Amazons, Bodak, depicts a fierce battle between two groups of women warriors, featuring a close-up of one fight.
The second, "Dueling Topless", an 18th century classic, depicts two women fighting with sabers. According to many accounts, sword and pistol duels were not uncommon among high-born women from the Medieval through the Renaissance periods. They fought topless, not to be sexy, but to avoid infection from wounds inflicted above the waist.

"Carita", star of "The Viking Queen" movie
For my first upload of the New Year, I've chosen a rare photo of Carita Jarniven, the Finnish actress, who played the star, "Carita", in "The Viking Queen". You will find this publicity photo in the Art Gallery. I also have the trailer to this movie in my Video Library. Carita looked good in armour and handled her sword well in fights with the Roman Army.
She led her Iceni tribe in a hopeless fight but chose suicide over capture. "The Viking Queen" doesn't have any Vikings, but lots of heroic Iceni warriors and druids. Her sisters were also warriors who died fighting bravely. The movie is not available from Netflix, but you can purchase it from Amazon.com. It's not an accurate movie but worth watching if you like women warriors.
